Catching Up!

It's been awhile and I have lots to write about. A few weeks ago I had my break in between semesters! Although it was nice to have some time off it was full of accomplishing my list of things I wanted to get done. One Saturday I spent all day doctoring up our yard and flower beds. Here are some pictures:
Before

and after

I never thought I would say this but I love doing yard work. It's rewarding to look at the end result when finished. My flowers are starting to bloom, but earlier than expected from what the bulbs said. The white flowers are not coming up yet so I'm getting nervous that it will look weird!

MIA

I'm so behind on posting and I have a ton of pictures! I'm super busy for the next few weeks due to the accelerated summer courses. I have 12 credits the first seven weeks and 6 the last seven of the summer. I love going to summer school though, for some odd reason I do better through out the semester than in the spring or fall. Which is backwards from the normal, I think;) Anyway for anyone who has noticed I have a two countdowns until the day I graduate....I'm so lame! But I have to have something to look at the see that I don't have much longer! I don't love the bottom one, but I like seeing the smaller numbers. This is so lame, but for anyone who cares to look tell me which one you like better. My favorite is the beach background of course, it's the number of days that is not my favorite. Stay tuned for some pictures soon especially because it is Chris's birthday this weekend! Yeah!!

I had to post some pictures of the flowers that I planted in my front yard. I love them and they are starting to bloom so we'll have to see how they turn out! (I did a combination of both and these pictures I found on the Internet. I'll post pictures of mine once them bloom!)

Thank You Mr. and Mrs. Buckner!!!

Just to forewarn you this post is more for journal sake...

I'm sure the Buckner's will never look at my blog but I really can't thank them enough for what they did for me and my family! Here's the story:

On Thursday April 23 I got a phone call at work. It was the Dean's office from the Weber State Goddard School of Business. (That is the specific school I will be graduating from in December) I had been selected for a private scholarship! All I had to do was write a thank you letter by the next week and attend the scholarship banquet. I couldn't believe it! I hadn't even applied. I had recently just turned in my application to be accepted into the school, which I'm guessing is how they knew I worked in the Registrar's office. The scholarship pays for almost all of my last years tuition. Chris and I feel so blessed and don't know what we did to deserve this but are truly ecstatic. Here are a couple pictures from the banquet. I sat next to Mr. Buckner, intimidating---Yes. Chris and my parents came, it was so nice to have them there. I first off have to thank my husband. He is so supportive and it helps me make it through my semesters. I also want to thank my parents for being there with me and for their support. And a big thank you to the rest of you who have supported me along the way:)(It was hard to get a good picture with the lighting and everyone taking pictures at the same time)
The banquet was at Ogden Eccles and was really nice. Each student sat at the table with the person who funds the scholarship. Mr. Buckner's daughter and her husband came as his escort. Mrs. Buckner was not well enough to come. The dinner was delicious and it was fun to see all the students get the different awards.

Mr. Buckner served in World War II as a B-17 pilot. He received degrees from Weber State and Brigham Young University. He joined his father in 1946 as partner in the Buckner Insurance Counselors Group in Ogden, he was very successful and was with the company until he retired. He served as president of the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1954-1955, president of the Ogden Kiwanis Club, president of the Lake Bonneville Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and as president of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce in 1988. Mr. Buckner was a member of the Utah State House of Representatives from 1965-1967 and served in the Utah State Senate from 1967-1975. He was a member of the State Board of Regents from 1981-1985 and served as president of the Weber State University Foundation. Mr. Buckner served as president of the Ogden Temple from 1987-1990, and president of the California Sacramento Mission from 1975-1978. He has also served in many other capacities including stake president and bishop. He was honored with an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree from Weber State University in 1994. He received both the Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope awards from the Boy Scouts of America. In 1989 he and his wife were inducted as members of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce's Wall of Fame.

That was the information on him from the banquet program. Now you know why I was so intimidated! He was so kind and interested in my schooling and in mine and Chris's lives in general. We got to know so much more about the Buckner's at the banquet and were honored to visit with him. I can't thank him and his family enough!

1 YeAr AnNiVeRsArY!!!!

Be prepared for a the longest post in history..... If you don't want to read it I'm not offended, it's more just for memories sake.

April 15Th makes for our big 1 year wedding anniversary! We actually made a week out of it:) Silly I know but it was fun. On Monday and Tuesday we just made dinner together. Wednesday we decided to celebrate by going to the temple and doing some sealings in honor of us being sealed to each other. After the temple we went to Ruby River for dinner. It was delicious. Chris and I both ordered steak and they cooked his wrong so they had to bring him a new one, and I got to eat the steak they messed up on. Yes two steaks for me and I ate them both:) After dinner we came home and watched our wedding video and ate wedding cake. Here are some pictures of us leaving for dinner. They are taken at our house, and of course it wouldn't be our wedding with out snow! Apparently Chris called ahead because he wanted to make sure everything was the same....Ha Ha just kiddingOur wedding cake still tasted pretty good. That Friday we took off for an anniversary weekend. We went shopping a-lot, which surprisingly was Christopher's idea, went out to eat some more, attended our friends wedding in Provo, and stayed over night in a hotel. It was so nice to get away for a weekend and just spend time with each other! Here is a recap of wedding day: Sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple! My handsome groomIt was suppose to be a gorgeous day but decided to snow:) We took these pictures the night before just in case, we were so glad! This is one of my favorites!and this one...
Both our families were there to celebrate with us. Although it snowed we love the way our pictures turned out!(Chris thinks he is secretly a ninja:))We were so glad that it was just a light snow! For some reason I can't find the file for the luncheon pictures, but you get the idea from this. It was delicious.Chris your parents told me the night before they were surprising you with a rock wall at our luncheon, I knew you would love it. You always said you didn't want a reception, just a rock wall and a mechanical bull. Although you got your wish you quickly admitted that the whole wedding day hoop-la isn't so bad when it is with the person that you love! For those of you who know Chris really well you may find it as funny as we did that the first time I signed my new name was on a release form for the rock climbing company:)How cute are these guys:

We want to thank our families for all their help, love, and support.
GQ, or just a bunch of weirdos?Oh dear! Our cake was amazing, thanks Bree!Lots of people came to see us
and were so nice to bring us giftsWhat a bad traditionOh ya, this one too!The Perfect End to the Perfect Day!:)

Easter

I absolutely love Easter weekend! It all started on Friday after work. My good friend Ashley came down and we had a girls night which consisted of doing hair, watching chick flicks, and eating lots of junk food. Our husbands were at a bachelor party for one of their good friends. He is getting married Saturday in the Mount Timpanogos temple and we're so happy for them! Saturday Chris had to work and I did lots of housework... We were able to go shopping together later which was fun! The Easter bunny brought us lots of candy and a couple movies. Chris received season one of 24, and I got Marley and Me. If anyone knows us we were in need of some new movies. We don't have cable so anytime we watch anything it is a movie and I think we have seen everything we own way too many times!!! On Sunday Chris made us a delicious breakfast, he is so sweet! Church was great as usual, it was nice to reflect on our Savior and everything he has done for us. Here is ONE of my favorite pictures. After Church we went to Chris's parents for dinner. It was yummy of course and we are always so grateful to have family close by. Both of our parents are close and we love spending time with them. Later on that night my brother-in-law Casey went with his girlfriend on a motorcycle ride......and they came back engaged! It was so exciting! Click HERE if you want to see details. After all the excitement we watched Australia on his parents home theater, it was way good! Here is a picture of our cute Easter basket!Casey and his fiance Heidi. We are so excited to have her as part of the family! Also this weekend I gave my sister-in-law and niece haircuts. They turned out so cute! Here is a before:and after: and here is adorable Katelyn: I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter:)

Dinner and Bowling

A couple weeks ago we went out to eat at Applebees with some of Chris's siblings. After we decided to go bowling and it was so much fun to spend time with them! We had a contest; siblings against in-laws. We tied the first time and the in-laws fell short the second round:( We all did really well though. Our last game Chris bowled a 122 and I hit 150! (It must have been my lucky socks that I had to buy at their vending machine)
This is Marty and Nicole, Chris's sister and her husband.
And this is Casey and Heidi, Chris's brother and his girlfriend.
