Baby Update

Warning:  This post is long, I want to document some pregnancy stuff so I don't forget it!

My 28 week appointment was today!  I had to do the glucose test...yuck!  I went in a couple weeks ago because I had severe swelling and extreme nausea, it ended up being my blood pressure which was 155/94.  The good news: it is around 113/72 laying down.  They don't like it to be over 120/80.  My blood pressure this appointment was still a little high but normal again when I am laying down, so I am suppose to rest a lot.  How that is possible I don't know.  I work 40 hours a week and sometimes can barely fit in all the other things I have to do.  I kicked my shoes off the other day at work and couldn't get them back on when it was time to leave :)  Along with the high blood pressure I am SO sick again.  I'm nauseous all the time and I wake up in the night almost throwing up, it's terrible.  They did give me a prescription which has helped but is still not fun at times.  I have also blown up like a balloon!  My ring is tight even on my pinkie finger sometimes and I always have indents from my socks etc.  I have lowered my sodium intake but the swelling still seems the same.  All I know is that it will be totally worth it I just need to get our little boy here and keep him healthy.

A few things about pregnancy so far:
  • My biggest craving is mashed potatoes.
  • I lived off fruits in the beginning, which is weird because I love my sweets.
  • Speaking of sweets, I hate them during pregnancy.  They are my biggest food aversion and they make me sick.
  • Sprite, ice packs, jolly ranchers and gummies have been live savers!
  • I have never been able to keep down anything with peperoni's on it, or my favorite banana bread.
  • I can taste the different flavoring in M&M's and when I do eat them I only like the brown and red ones, weird I know.
  • I have hated salsa my whole life, it makes me gag...I now LOVE it!
  • I have never had "morning sickness" it's actually either night or all day sickness.  Generally mornings are the best for me though!
  • I felt our little peanut around 18 weeks and Chris felt him around 20 weeks.
  • I grew in my hips first not my belly.
  • Being pregnant does not mean getting a big belly it can mean getting a big everything!  Everything has gotten bigger, and actually my belly has grown probably the slowest.
  • We told our families the exciting news at 8 weeks, we had been trying for awhile and when we got pregnant we just couldn't keep it a secret for very long.
  • I found out on Memorial Day morning our exciting news, I also found out about 3 minutes later that my Grandpa Godfrey had passed away.  Chris came home with pizza to console me about my grandpa and I told him our news then!
  • I initially thought we were having a little boy, Chris was sure it was a girl.
  • Before we found out the gender I had dreams that it was a girl so I second guessed my instincts.
  • Off and on through out pregnancy I have had to keep food by my bed to eat through the night or I get sick.  An empty stomach gives me the worst nauseous feeling.
I am sure I am forgetting things, it seems I am a space cadet when pregnant.

I have my 24 week pictures and hopefully won't get too behind at taking my 28 week pictures soon and posting.  Despite all the rough times I love being pregnant and feel so blessed for the opportunity to carry our little peanut!

For some reason this is not letting me post anymore pictures ;(
Hunting and birthday update will have to wait now!

Too Many Options!

I'm deciding between a portable or regular size infant swing, and whether I want a plug in or battery operated?  Any advice?

We are so excited that we are having a little BOY!!!  I'm closer to 24 weeks now but here are my 20 week ultrasound pictures.  It was so nice to hear that everything is growing right on target and that our little boy looks really healthy!  Baby Bybee is a very active little boy and we are excited to have now passed the halfway mark!

Not Much Going on Here

Thanks for all the comments and advice everyone!  I've since done a great deal of researching, reading reviews, and asking family and friends A LOAD of questions about baby gear.  I'm still teetering between the Graco car seat or the Chicco.  I have read/heard a lot of pros and cons to each.  If anyone has an opinion or information on these two brands let me know.  I'm leaning more towards the Chicco, but there are still some features about the Graco I wish the Chicco possessed...maybe I should go into the car seat business and create my own, lol.  Thanks again everyone and have a great week!

16 Weeks!

Well, I am 16 weeks and 4 days now.  We had an appointment this last week and got to listen to our baby's heart beat.  It was strong and healthy!  The count down is on, we find out on September 17th what we are having.  We can't wait!  Here is my 16 week belly picture.  For those who commented on my last photo don't be fooled...I have gained a good 10-15 pounds already and have to wear maternity pants because I can't get any of mine on!
I'm trying to pick out a stroller and crib for the baby but can't make up my mind.  Colors, brands, styles...it all starts making my head spin.  If you have any advice please send it my way!

On another note, Chris is starting his MBA on Tuesday which means our house remodel is going to be at a stand still.  Our last project was putting in the kitchen floor so our floors were 100% complete before I have the baby.  Before and afters won't be for a long time but here is a picture of our beautiful new kitchen floor!

Guess What.........

WE'RE PREGNANT!!!

8 weeks

12 weeks, waving hi!

12 weeks, right as my ob started the ultra sound the baby put it's hands up by it's ears.  So cute but looks a little alien like.  The baby has a great heart beat and was moving around like crazy.

Chris had flowers delivered to my work on our 12 week mark.  12 roses for 12 weeks and 3 gerber daisies for 3 months, what a cute husband.

This could be scary but I decided it would be fun to do belly pictures, so here I am at 12 weeks.

I have been so sick and Chris has been the biggest help.  We are so excited for this adventure and CANNOT wait to meet our little one.  I'm due February 9, 2011 which seems far away, but I'm sure it will be here before we know it.  We find out in about 7 weeks whether it is a boy or girl.

As a side note the twins were born this morning and are doing great. Mason Nicolas Carpenter is 4 lbs 13 oz and 18 in long, Davis Martin Carpenter is 5 lbs 8 oz and 18 in long. We are so excited to go meet them and will have pictures to post later.

Wanda's Funeral

Chris' grandma passed away July 17th from old age.  She is now reunited with her husband Jesse, who passed on a few years ago.  It was a beautiful ceremony and we will miss her dearly.

Kathy, Heidi, Casey, Taylor, Chris, Me, Braden, Nicole (34 weeks pregnant with twins), Marty, Katelyn, Cameron, and Alan, Maddi was hanging out over in the shade.

Wanda with Alan, Chris' dad. Chris looks just like his dad!

4th Of July Derby

For the 4th of July we went the the ReAL game and fireworks on friday, the derby and fireworks on Saturday and then up to my parents house on Sunday for a BBQ. Chris' dad got us all VIP passes so we had great parking, great comfy seats, and even got some free dinner. Thanks Alan!

Maddi really enjoyed the derby ;)

Camping Lava Style

Chris had the last weekend in June off so we went camping at Lava Hot Springs. It was so nice to relax and spend time together. It made it even better that we were camping but there was a nice place to go swimming, yummy places to eat and some fun things to do.

In Loving Memory of Verl Wilson Godfrey
Born March 19, 1917 in Clarkston Utah
Died May31, 2010 in Clarkston Utah
My dear Grandpa passed away on the morning of Memorial day. We were so blessed to have him in our lives. I lived just a few blocks away from my Grandparents all growing up and was able to have a wonderful relationship with them. Grandpa and Grandma were married for 69 years! Grandpa Verl was a hard worker and a man of principals. He was such a great example to all of us and was fun to joke around with. He loved farming and worked on his land tell he was 90 years old. We love Grandpa so much and will miss him very much. We are so grateful the gospel in our lives and that we will be able to see him again one day. Here are a few pictures from the funeral.

Update

I can't believe it's May! I thought I would post some pictures from our anniversary! It was so nice to have a break and spend time with each other. On our anniversary went breakfast, hung out at the pool for awhile, got aqua massages and walked around the strip for a bit. That night Chris took me to PF Changs, which I had never been to, and I loved it! The food was amazing! After dinner he surprised me with a helicopter ride over the strip. Here are a few pictures from the trip; I'll have to post videos of the helicopter ride later! It was so fun and I'm so happy I got to spend the weekend with my sweet husband! The sad thing is that the last day there Chris got a toothache and I had to drive home while he was in severe pain. Long story short his tooth he got a root canal on two years ago had been bothering him ever since, built up a major infection, and had to be redone by our new dentist.

Time Flies

I can't believe how fast the last month has gone! Not much has happened. I started my job on March 1st and I absolutely love it. In the past I have claimed to like my jobs, it was always just a job to me and making money is always a good thing. But, for once in my life I truly LOVE my job! I'm still learning and will be for awhile but it's great! Here is my official card.

At the end of March I went to my very first Jazz game to watch my niece perform for with her dance group. It sounds crazy, and I have attempted to go to a few games in the past but the weather and sold out games always got in the way. After the game we went to dinner and ate way too much. It was fun to be there with family, as my niece was exiting to their dressing she ran into President Monson and her group got their picture taken with him. Super jealous!

Me and Nicole

Chris and I have also been working on our house like crazy. The upstairs has a lot less work than the basement and is moving along so much faster. We are ready to paint, our hardwood flooring came last Thursday, and the rock for our fireplace will be here in two weeks. I think with a little help from our dad's we could have everything but the kitchen and bathroom finished by the start of the summer. Here is a sneak peak of our new floors. They are Hickory and it is called Gobi.

And here is a funny picture of Chris getting the entry ways ready to paint :)

We had a wonderful Easter. We spent it with both families this year. We had our traditional Easter breakfast at my parents, watched conference; had our traditional conference lunch and watched more conference. Then we headed down to the Bybee's to have dinner. We were fed in more ways than one! I love listening to the prophets and the spirit that is felt over general conference weekend.

Hopefully I won't wait so long to update again.  We are leaving a week from Wednesday for Las Vegas for our two year anniversary.  With the luck we have had the last two years on April 15 it could possibly snow is Vegas, ha ha that would not be funny!

The Story Of Our First Home

This day has finally come.......The basement is finished and ready to rent out! It took A LOT longer than expected but we are extremely pleased with the results. I thought I would post the before and after.

Starting with the master bedroom; which actually use to be the smaller bedroom. The original master bedroom was a really odd L-shape and had the fire place in it. We decided to knock the wall out that separated the living room and bedroom and create a smaller bedroom which also made the living room larger. The master bedroom was the easiest room to fix.

Before
Don't you love the old school floors, they remind me of an elementary school's lunch room.

After
We just finished putting the last window in and still have to put up the blind.

This is the old master bedroom which we made smaller as explained before.  After knocking out that wall we had to build up another wall and add a closet.

Before
Sorry these pictures are not the best quality.  That door is actally to a closet that we painted and put shelves and a closet rod in.
After

I can't decide whether my favorite is the living room or the kitchen.  I just love how much space is in the living room and that it has the fireplace.  We still need to replace the fireplace screen which is old and gold.

Before

Looking toward the storage room, bathroom, and furnace room.
Looking at what will be the kitchen off to the left and the landing which will have a door entrance.
It's hard to tell because it all blends together but the door on this wall leads to the laundry/storage room.
This is the view from the bottom of the stairs looking at the wall we knocked out.

After
View from the bottom of the stairs.
You can see the new door we put on the furnace room on the far left.  I love the exposed brick!
This is a slightly different angle of the picture that has the storage room and bathroom, which is on the right of the picture that you can't see as well as the furnace room.

The bathroom and kitchen had the most work. We had to gut the whole bathroom. It was disgusting and I should be really embarrassed to post pictures but I am going to anyway so you can see the differences.

Before
The shower was tin.  I can't believe anyone used this!
The pipes for the shower were exposed running down the side of it.

After
Chris did such a great job on the tile!
The plumbing had a lot of issues so we ripped everything out and had to build the tub up on this sub floor.  It was a pain but I feel like it turned out really nice.
And we decided to add these shelves off to the side for linens.

I saved what I think is the best for last.  We built this kitchen in and I absolutely love how it turned out.  We had to fix the cupboards and Chris did the counter tops with travertine tile.  We still have to buy a fridge but we are excited it is finally ready to rent.

Before
There is only one before picture becuase this was all the kitchen use to be.
I was  a little nervous when Chris came home with these....but we re did the outside and clean up the inside as well as lined them all with contact paper.  They turned out better than I could have imagined.

After
That small door leads to a small pantry.
We still have to put the covers on the outlets but I love love this kitchen.

So that is what we have been doing for the last year.  As I mentioned before it took longer than we thought but was worth the wait.  It was hard doing all the work ourselves but we have learned so much through the process and will never forget being first married and fixing up our first home.  We also carpeted the stairway and re did the landing at the top of the stairs but we still have to paint.  Now on to the upstairs, which won't take as long but I am really excited to get my floors in!

If you know anyone needing a place to rent tell them to contact us!  We are listing it to friends and family first and will probably go on ksl next week (as long as the virus issues are fixed).
